Investigative agencies conducting an “audit” of my father’s grave: Mehbooba Mufti | India News

SRINAGAR: “Let them prove just one case, I’m ready to face the consequences,” PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti said of the cases that are being investigated by various investigative agencies, including the NIA, which arrested a senior leader of the his party on terrorism financing charges.
The former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir also said it is shameful that investigating agencies are conducting an “audit” on the mausoleum of her father, Mufti Mohammed Sayeed.
In his first reaction after the leader of his party’s youth wing, Waheed Parra, was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Mehbooba said investigative agencies have been going through government files and their bank accounts for the last two years and they found nothing.
In an interview with PTI, he said: “It is disgraceful and disgusting that they are now conducting an audit at my late father’s mausoleum. How much more will they lower themselves?”
Sayeed died in 2016 and was buried in his ancestral cemetery in Bijbehara in southern Kashmir.
There was no reaction from either the NIA or the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) to the PDP chief’s assertions.
Referring to the alleged bungling at Jammu and Kashmir Bank during her tenure as chief minister, Mehbooba said: “What a bungling? Proving a single case where I or someone close to me has indulged in some form of financial misappropriation. I am ready to face the consequences. ”
On the arrest of Parra by the NIA, he said, after “not having been able to prove any corruption charges against me, they are resorting to other forms of defamation by linking me to the financing of terrorism.”
“Waheed is a great advocate for democracy, reconciliation and dialogue. He has motivated thousands of young people to join the mainstream. All of these charges are products of his imagination to force me to change course and repeat his narrative,” he said .
Parra was arrested by the NIA in November for allegedly contacting Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists seeking support for Mehbooba during her parliamentary elections.
The NIA alleges that Parra had paid money through suspended Jammu and Kashmir Police Deputy SP Davinder Singh, who has already been arrested for transporting terrorists from Srinagar to Jammu.
