PRAYAGRAJ: Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad (ABAP), who changed his previous opposition position against the proposed 2020 Religious Places Registration Regulation, said that the 13 monastic orders under it would support whatever decision the state government makes.
The Akhara Parishad made this decision during a meeting at Baghambari Gaddi in Prayagraj on Friday. “Whether it is Kinnar Akhara, Pari Akhara or any other monastic order requesting to register as ‘akhara’, we demand that the government not accept any such claim as there cannot be any 14th akhara apart from the existing 13 who are members. Any organization can merge with an existing akhara, but a separate akhara will not be accepted, “said ABAP chief Mahant Narendra Giri.
Opposing ABAP’s position, Mahamandeleshwar of Kinnar Akhara Laxmi Narayan Tripathi said: “At Kumbh Mela 2019, there was a lot of opposition against us, but the state government gave us all the comforts. The time has come for ABAP to act like an ocean. and not confine yourself like a frog in a well. We will continue to press for our demands. ”
Several other key resolutions were passed at the meeting. ABAP again demanded that the Uttarakhand government extend all amenities to the seers by Haridwar Kumbh 2021. “If the seers’ proposal is not accepted, ABAP will organize a protest and take their demands to Prime Minister Modi,” Giri said. “We also demand the dissolution of the government of Maharashtra and that the government of the president should be implemented there.”
