Covid-19 Vaccines Are 110% Safe, Impotence Rumors Make No Sense: DCGI | India News


NEW DELHI: As India prepares for the world’s largest vaccination program, India’s Controller General of Drugs (DCGI) on Sunday quelled rumors surrounding Covid-19 vaccines regarding impotence, dismissing speculation such as ” complete nonsense. ”
“We will never approve anything if there is the slightest concern for safety. Vaccines are 110% safe. Some side effects like mild fever, pain and allergy are common to all vaccines. It is (the impotence rumors) complete nonsense.” VG Said Somani, Comptroller General of Drugs of India.
When asked if people would face side effects after receiving the vaccine, the DCGI said: “Yes, there will be minor side effects, such as a little pain in the shoulders, mild fever, minor allergies. This occurs in all vaccines, except -Of course, the vaccine is 110% safe. ”
Meanwhile, he said, ‘It (vaccines) are very safe, don’t worry’ in their interaction.
Earlier Saturday, Samajwadi Party chief and former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav had said: “The Covid-19 vaccine could contain something that can cause harm. Tomorrow, people will say that the vaccine was administered to kill. or decrease the population. You can even become powerless, anything can happen. ”
Earlier today, the Covid-19 vaccines from the Serum Institue of India and Bharat Biotech received permission for restricted use in an emergency situation, the Comptroller General of Drugs of India (DCGI) said.
“After proper review, the CDSCO has decided to accept the Expert Committee’s recommendations and consequently, the M / s Serum and M / s Bharat Biotech vaccines are being approved for restricted use in emergency situations and are being granted permission to M / s Cadila Healthcare to conduct the phase III clinical trial, “said VG Somani, DCGI, during a press conference today.
