PM Modi will lay the foundation for IIM-Sambalpur today
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for the permanent campus of IIM Sambalpur, Odisha, on Saturday via video conference, according to a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
The prime minister also made the announcement on Twitter. “At 11 am tomorrow, January 2, the foundation stone of the permanent campus of IIM-Sambalpur will be laid. I would especially invite my student friends and those in the startup world to join the program. India is proud of the IIMs’ valuable contributions to national progress, ”he tweeted on Friday.
Odisha Governor Ganeshi Lal and State Prime Minister Naveen Patnaik, along with Union Ministers Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, Dharmendra Pradhan and Pratap Chandra Sarangi, will also be present on the occasion.
More than 5,000 guests will participate in the ceremony. “The ceremony will feature the virtual presence of more than 5,000 guests, including officials, industry leaders, academics and students, alumni and professors of IIM Sambalpur,” the statement said.
IIM Sambalpur is the first IIM to implement the idea of ’flipped classrooms’, according to the PMO. A flipped classroom is where basic concepts are learned in digital mode and experiential learning takes place in the classroom, through live industry projects. The institute also outperformed all other IIMs in terms of the greatest gender diversity with 49% of female students in the MBA batch (2019-21) and 43% in the MBA batch (2020-22).
