225 terrorists killed at J&K in 2020: DGP J&K | India News


JAMMU: Dilbag Singh, DGP of J&K, said on Thursday that terrorist incidents, infiltration and killings of civilians occurred on the Union territory in 2020.
He also claimed that all the top commanders of various terrorist teams operating at J&K have been eliminated.
Addressing the annual interaction with the media on the achievements of the J&K police on Thursday, Singh said: “We carried out 90 successful operations in Kashmir and 13 in Jammu, and neutralized 225 terrorists during the year.” He said that 47 of the terrorists killed were senior commanders.
Referring to the losses of security personnel during the action, the DGP said: “Sixteen members of the J&K police (15 in Kashmir and 1 in Jammu) and 44 members of other security forces (42 in Kashmir and 2 in Jammu) they died while fighting terrorism this year. ”
Singh said police and security agencies cracked down on surface workers (OGW) from terrorist teams and 635 OGWs were arrested, 56 of whom were booked under the Public Safety Act (PSA).
“During the year, 299 terrorists and their associates were arrested and 12 terrorists surrendered,” he said.
The DGP stated that the number of murders of civilians decreased during the year. “38 civilians died this year, compared to 44 last year,” he said.
Referring to the Covid-19 situation, Singh said that 15 police officers lost their lives to the pandemic while performing their duties and around 3,500 people contracted the infection, most of whom have recovered from the disease.
