Pakistani troops violate ceasefire along LoC, attack mosques and houses in Kupwara | India News


SRINAGAR / JAMMU: Pakistani troops opened fire and shelled mortars in unprovoked violations of a ceasefire agreement along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Kupwara and Rajouri districts of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said Thursday.
In the Tangdhar sector of Kupwara, Pakistani troops specifically targeted mosques and houses in border villages, an army official said in Srinagar.
“Pakistan initiated an unprovoked ceasefire violation along the LoC in Tangdhar sector, Kupwara, firing mortars and other weapons last night,” the official said.
In the Nowshera sector of Rajouri, Pakistani army personnel fired heavy gunfire and mortar shelling at outposts.
“At approximately 3:15 pm today, the Pakistani military initiated an unprovoked violation of the ceasefire by firing small arms and intense mortar shelling along LoC in Nowshera sector in Rajouri district,” said a defense spokesman in Jammu.
The Indian military retaliated accordingly for the unprovoked ceasefire violations, authorities said.
