Cattle Smuggling Case: CBI Searches Multiple Sites in West Bengal | India News

NEW DELHI: On Thursday, the IWC conducted searches at various locations in West Bengal, including the premises of TMC leader Vinay Mishra, who is considered close to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s nephew Abhishek Banerjee, in connection with the cows smuggling case, authorities said.
The agency also issued a surveillance circular against Mishra to prevent him from leaving the country, they said.
The CBI is conducting searches at two Mishra facilities in Kolkata, among other locations, they said.
The agency had arrested an alleged drug lord cows smuggling trafficking in West Bengal and two BSF officials in connection with the case.
The CBI had conducted a preliminary investigation that showed that cows Smuggling was rampant along the India-Bangladesh border, which is allegedly aided by some corrupt BSF and Customs officials who receive illegal gratification from smugglers, they said.
The agency has done its best in the West Bengal-related cases and Director RK Shukla asked the team investigating Saradha and the related ponzi scam to complete the filing of all FIRs by January 2021.
