TRP Scam: Former BARC CEO Sent Into Court Custody | India News
Dasgupta, who was brought to court after his police custody ended, also filed a request for bail.
His attorney, Kamlesh Ghumre, argued that Dasgupta was the executive director of the Broadcast Audience Research Council, but there was a board of directors and a disciplinary committee above him.
He was not the “all and only one of the BARC,” said the lawyer, adding that he could not have tampered with the rating system.
The court will hear the bond statement on January 1.
Mumbai police have alleged that Dasgupta abused his official position and manipulated the PRT of certain television channels.
TRP was manipulated by bribing some of the households in the sample from which audience data is collected to tune into particular channels, according to the police case.
