Shaheen Bagh Shooter Joins BJP, Removed Hours Later | India News

NEW DELHI: Hours after joining the party, the BJP on Wednesday canceled the membership of Kapil Gurjar, the man who had shot near the anti-CAA protest site at Shaheen Bagh in Delhi.
“Kapil Gurjar was part of a group of BSP workers who had joined BJP today. We were not aware of his association with the Shaheen Bagh issue,” said Ghaziabad BJP President Sanjeev Sharma.
Earlier today, Gurjar joined the BJP in Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh in the presence of senior local leaders. The decision to incorporate Gurjar sparked strong reactions on social media, with opposition parties targeting the BJP.
On February 1 of this year, Gurjar fired two rounds into the air at Shaheen Bagh during the anti-CAA protest. He was arrested and is out on bail in the case.
