Congress Increases Pressure on Government Ahead of Farmer Negotiations | India News

NEW DELHI: Increasing pressure on the eve of the Center’s talks with farmers, Congress said Tuesday that the Modi regime should repeal the three controversial farm laws and introduce new bills with proposed amendments in Parliament. He said the government should resolve the confrontation according to the demands of the farmers.
When asked if his comment on making amendments marked a change in Congress’ demand that the three laws be repealed, AICC spokesman Rajiv Shukla clarified: “First the laws are repealed and then new ones are introduced. laws that incorporate the changes that farmers demand. It is the normal legislative process ”.
Shukla told a press conference that farmers were seriously concerned about attempts to end the MSP and Mandis regime, adding that it was reprehensible that the government and ruling BJP were trying to paint the unrest as a political conspiracy. “The government’s motives are dubious,” he said, along with the head of the Rajasthan Congress, Govind Dotasra.
Dotasra said that Rajasthan farmers were shaken by the Center’s “intransigence” and were willing to join the protest at the Delhi border if talks on Wednesday did not yield a positive result.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi sought votes by promising that he will work for the benefit of farmers and increase the MSP according to a formula based on input costs. Now he is conspiring against farmers. The agricultural community is angry and is watching with interest the talks that the central government is conducting, ”he said.
Shukla said that all sectors of society were unhappy with the Modi government due to its policies such as demonetization, GST and agricultural laws.
