NEW DELHI: The wife of Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut, Varsha Raut, on Tuesday sought more time to appear before the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) in connection with the PMC bank scam case.
Varsha Raut has requested time from the investigative agency until January 5.
The ED had asked Varsha to appear before it today with the relevant documents related to his accounts at PMC Bank, which is in default. The agency has invoked provisions of the Anti-Money Laundering Law to summon Varsha Raut. ED is investigating a 4,355 million rupee scam involving PMC Bank and Wadhawans of Housing Development and Infrastructure Ltd (HDIL) defaulting on loans.
Meanwhile, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut alleged that central agencies were being used to “destabilize” the Uddhav Thackeray-led government in Maharashtra and claimed that BJP leaders had been in contact with him for more than a year to carry out this plan.
Raut told reporters that BJP leaders had a list of 22 MLA from Congress and the NCP with them “who will be forced to resign under pressure from central investigative agencies.”
