NEW DELHI: The Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) has found the accusations made by the Vice President of the National Conference, Omar Abdullah, against it unfounded.
Abdullah has alleged that the BJP was assassinating democracy by stopping the victorious candidates of the Popular Alliance for the Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) and pressuring the District Development Council (DDC) candidates to switch sides.
BJP Member of Parliament Rajya Sabha and National Spokesperson Syed Zafar Islam, while speaking to ANI, said that “We went to Kashmir with the intention of winning the hearts of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, and we are very happy that we did. Our main objective was free and fair elections in Jammu and Kashmir where the people should exercise their democratic right and it happened this time. ”
“During this election, we won the hearts of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and the BJP became the largest party, we got the highest number of votes in the Union Territory and that is the clear indication that we managed to win the hearts. of the people. In recently concluded DDC polls, the seven-party coalition led by Farooq Abdullah, comprising the National Conference and the Mehbooba Mufti People’s Democratic Party, won 110 seats, while the BJP won 75 seats and secured the largest share of votes. in the polls and became the largest party. 50 independents have also won the elections in addition to other small parties.
After the election results were announced, the parties that participated in the DDC elections made many accusations and counter-accusations.
Omar Abdullah accused the Jammu and Kashmir administration of trying to change the results of the DDC elections by forcing the winning candidates to join parties other than (PAGD). The BJP has called their accusation unfounded and said that in the next election, provided it is carried out, the BJP will be victorious.
