Currently, on his three-day visit to the northeast that began on Saturday morning, Shah addressed BJP workers in Imphal and said that up to 644 cadres from eight extremist groups surrendered with more than 2,500 weapons and joined the mainstream.

Shah said that now Manipal has benefited since the insurgents have joined the mainstream.
“Previously, Manipur used to face a shortage of essentials due to regular blockades. But in the last 3 years, we have not seen any Bandh. I want to congratulate Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh as he has given it a new identity to the state, “Shah said.
Earlier, Shah offered prayers at the famous Kamakhya temple in Guwahati. Shah was accompanied by Assam’s Chief Minister Sarbanand Sonowal and the state’s Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. He chaired a meeting with the chief minister, Sarbananda Sonowal, to review the situation of law and order in the state.
Shah will also inaugurate several development projects in the state. It will lay the foundation stones of the Churachandpur Medical College, the state government guesthouse in Imphal, Manipur Bhawan, Dwarka in New Delhi, the IIT in Muongkhong, the State Police Headquarters in Imphal and the Integrated Command and Control Center from the city of Imphal. .
