Two TRF Terrorists Arrested in Jammu; seizure of arms and ammunition | India News


JAMMU: Two terrorists affiliated with ‘The Resistance Force’ (TRF) were arrested in Jammu and weapons and ammunition were seized, police said on Saturday.
Raees Ahmad Dar from Churath, Qazigund and Subzar Ahmad Sheikh from Ashmuji, Kulgam, were heading to Srinagar in a car when they were intercepted and arrested by the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the local police on the Narwal bypass on Friday. night, they said.
A police spokesman said the SOG had established a special checkpoint in the area after obtaining reliable information on the movement of terrorists with automatic weapons.
“At approximately 5.30 pm (Friday), when the SOG team was conducting a vehicle check in the area, an Alto car attempted to escape the checkpoint. Upon observing the suspicious movement, the SOG team immediately chased the vehicle and stopped the two suspects along with a bag, “he said.
The official said the bag, which was with Dar, contained an AK assault rifle with two magazines and 60 rounds, and a pistol along with two magazines and 15 rounds.
A case has been registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, the Weapons Act and the Prevention of Illicit Activities Act, the spokesperson said.
With the arrest, he said, the police broke a TRF module.
TRF is believed to be a shadow group from Lashkar-e-Taiba.
“Dar has a history of involvement in terrorist activities and has four cases registered against him. The initial investigation reveals that he is working for TRF. The role of his associate is also being determined,” the official said.
He said the Jammu police were investigating the case to uncover the network of associates who support terrorist activities.
