Interior Minister Amit Shah launched a scathing attack on Congress and opposition parties in Assam on Saturday, claiming that previous congressional governments did nothing to get the youth of the northeast out of the insurgency path.
Shah said: “Assam has seen several upheavals in recent decades. Many Assamese youth died during these upheavals. It disturbed the peace of Assam and stopped the development of the region. “
The union’s interior minister noted that it was the Modi government that restored normalcy in the region and the government is determined that development in the region will pave the way for people to change their mindset and join the mainstream. . Shah also praised Chief Minister Sarabananda Sonowal and Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for their role in bringing separatist voices into the mainstream.
Amit Shah is on a two-day visit to Assam and Manipur to assess the party’s readiness ahead of the 2021 legislative assembly elections.
