The government will have to listen to protesting farmers: Rahul Gandhi | India News

NEW DELHI: Congressional leader Rahul Gandhi said Saturday that the government will have to listen to farmers protesting against the new farm laws.
Gandhi posted a video of farmers protesting and wrote: “Mitti ka kann kann goonj raha hai, sarkar ko sun na patroga – The government will have to listen (to the farmers).”
Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Ghulam Nabi Azad and Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury visited Rashtrapati Bhavan on December 24.
Rahul Gandhi presented the party’s memorandum with two million signatures to President Ram Nath Kovind for the repeal of the agricultural laws, against which farmers have been protesting on the Delhi borders since last month.
“I told the president that these agricultural laws are contrary to farmers. The country has seen that farmers have stood up to these laws,” Gandhi had said.
Farmers protest at Delhi borders since Nov 26 against Agricultural Products Trade and Trade (Promotion and Facilitation) Act 2020; the Farmers’ Agreement (Empowerment and Protection) on Price Guarantee and Agricultural Services Law, 2020; and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act 2020.
