Union Interior Minister Amit Shah on Saturday expressed his confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party will form a government in Assam with a full majority in the 2021 assembly elections. Shah arrived in Assam early Saturday morning, where he was received by Prime Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and other BJP leaders.

“The Bodoland poll, won by the NDA, was only a semi-final. The final is the Assam polls ahead. In this poll too, the BJP will have the total majority, ”Amit Shah said while addressing a public demonstration held in Amingaon in the Kamrup district on Saturday.

He said Assam was previously known for its movements and violence, but Prime Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and the state Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma unified the people of the region with the rest of the country by promoting traditions, culture and heritage.

He further said that there was a time when separatist factions used to give weapons to young people, but now they have joined the mainstream to become part of Assam’s growth engine.

He added that the northeast has become an engine of growth for the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who keeps the northeast region in focus.

“Modiji visited the northeast thirty times in six years. Every time he visited, he came with gifts, ”Shah said.

He launched an attack on the former congressional-led government for not working for the development of Assam.

On his visit, Shah is expected to meet with newly elected members of the BJP central committee, the governing coalition of the Bodoland Territorial Council, the 23-member delegation from the United Liberal Party-BJP-Gana Suraksha Party, said Himanta Biswa Sarma. , according to PTI news agency.

Shah laid the foundation for Vaishnav Saint Srimanta Sankardeva’s Rs 186 crore beautification program in Batadrava, a medical college and hospital to be established in the capital city by combining Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital and Kalapahar Covid Care Hospital at a cost of Rs 860 crore and 11 law schools in Assam, including supplying Rs 2.5 lakhs each to 8,000 Vaisnava monasteries.

Shah is scheduled to offer prayers at the Kamakhya temple in Guwahati on December 27. He would visit Manipur to launch various plans before leaving for New Delhi.
