Prime Minister Narendra Modi publishes book on Atal Bihari Vajpayee, calls him visionary leader | India News


NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi published a book in Parliament on Friday titled ‘Atal Bihari Vajpayee’, a commemorative volume on the former prime minister on his 96th birthday.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi paid tribute to Vajpayee through a tweet, saying “with his visionary leadership, Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji led the country to unprecedented heights of development.”
Prime Minister Modi said that the BJP leader’s efforts to build a strong and prosperous India will always be remembered.
To mark the anniversary of the birth of Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee, which is celebrated as Good Government Day on December 25, Prime Minister Modi paid floral tributes and also released the book published by the Lok Sabha secretariat.
On this occasion, in accordance with past practice, a floral tribute was organized on Vajpayee’s portrait, which was unveiled on February 12 last year in the Central Hall of Parliament.
The book highlights the life and work of Vajpayee and contains notable speeches he made in Parliament. It also contains some rare photographs from the public life of the BJP leader.
Vajpayee, elected ten times to the Lok Sabha and twice to the Rajya Sabha, was a parliamentarian par excellence, who had the trust, affection and faith of the people in his leadership.
As a parliamentarian and particularly as prime minister, Vajpayee made countless important contributions that paved the way for a stronger economy through bold reforms and rapid infrastructure development that gave India the Golden Quadrilateral, a mega project connecting the country through world-class express highways.
Vajpayee also distinguished himself as an excellent statesman and world leader.
For his exceptional service to the nation and his performance at the highest level, Vajpayee received the nation’s highest civilian award, the Bharat Ratna, in 2015. Prior to this, he also received the second highest civilian award in the nation, the Padma Vibhushan. in 1992.
As an MP, Vajpayee was awarded the Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant Award for Best MP in 1994, which defines him as “a quintessential role model for all legislators.”
Born on December 25, 1924 in Gwalior of Madhya Pradesh, Vajpayee took his last breath during treatment at the Institute of Indian Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi on August 16, 2018.
