‘Act of terrorism’: BJP after party worker was attacked by PDP leader
A first information report was filed against the leader of the Popular Democratic Party and former MLC Surinder Choudhary and his supporters for allegedly assaulting a BJP worker, police said Thursday. The BJP has called the attack an “act of terrorism”.
CCTV footage of the incident has gone viral on social media.
The victim has been identified as Ripu Daman Kohli. The former secretary general of the MLC and PDP had held a victory procession to celebrate the victory of the Nowshera party candidate. Kohli was at his store in Nowshera when the PPD leader, along with his supporters, broke in and began beating him on Thursday afternoon.
Kohli was subsequently hospitalized in the Nowshera Sub-District Hospital.
However, the PPD leader, in his complaint, claimed that Kohli had abused some female party activists during the victory procession.
His comments infuriated the party workers who later slapped Kohli.
“The barbaric attack on the leader of the BJP Ripu Daman by the leader of the PDP, Surinder Choudhary, will surely be seen as an act of terrorism by the leader of the PDP at the behest of the top leaders of the PDP,” said Vibodh Gupta, Secretary General J&K BJP and former MLC.
Gupta strongly condemned the act, saying the PDP leadership has lost its mental balance due to frustration. The leader said the PDP was showing its true colors of vandalism.
