Finally, Delhi government notifies auto-rickshaw rate hike | India News


NEW DELHI: The Delhi government announced Wednesday the new fee structure for automatic rickshaws. Although auto-rickshaw drivers have been charging the revised amount, which was approved by the city government in March 2019. The Delhi High Court had suspended in February this year when a petition was filed alleging that the notice issued by the city government it was without the approval of the lieutenant governor.
According to the gazette notice issued with LG approval, 25 rupees will be charged for the first 1.5 km, and thereafter 9.50 rupees per km will be charged for each additional km. The nightly charge is 25% and is applicable from 11pm to 5am. “Waiting charges will be applied at the rate of Rs 0.75 per minute for each minute (no limit to a minimum of 15 minutes as before when the vehicle is stopped or stuck in traffic or moving extremely slow (less than 1 km covered in 10 minutes), ”the notice said.
It also said that Rs 7.50 will be charged as charges for additional luggage, while the driver or operator will not charge any additional amount for a shopping bag or a small accessory or suitcase.
In yet another decision, the government has decided not to charge any fines to commercial vehicles for delays in the symbolic tax or the road tax that commercial vehicles pay to the city administration each month. This will cover the period from April to December 2020.
