DDC Polls: People Want New Leadership To Take Over J&K, Says Anurag Thakur | India News

NEW DELHI: Union and BJP minister in charge of District Development Council (DDC) elections, Anurag Thakur, expressed confidence in the party’s performance on Tuesday, saying people want to see new leadership take over in Jammu and Kashmir to help solve the problems in their districts.
“The results will be released today and I am confident in the performance of the Bhartiya Janata Party. People want to see new leadership take over in Jammu and Kashmir that will help solve the problems in their constituencies,” Thakur said while speaking to ANI.
“Even though people were threatened, they came out in large numbers to cast their vote. This is the victory of democracy. Prime Minister Modi’s dream that, at the grassroots level, the elections of the panchayat, the Block Development Council (BDC) and DDC are held Jammu and Kashmir has been fulfilled, ”he added.
Vote counting for the first DDC elections, which concluded on December 19, began today at 9 a.m. at all district headquarters throughout the Union Territory amid tight security.
Section 144, which prohibits the gathering of five or more people, has been imposed by the administration in Doda to maintain the situation of law and order. Three-level security provisions have been put in place to ensure a free, fair and smooth vote counting.
