NEW DELHI: The sixth edition of the India International Science Festival (IISF 2020) will be opened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday. The four-day festival will run on digital platforms until December 25.
Vigyan Bharati, a scientific body linked to RSS, is the knowledge partner for the IISF science and technology department. DST, in collaboration with other central ministries, has been organizing this annual event since 2015. The theme of this year’s festival is ‘Science for Self-Sufficient India and Global Well-being’.
“This year, the IISF will begin on the anniversary of the birth of Srinivasa Ramanujan (December 22), world-renowned Indian mathematician, and will culminate with the anniversary of the birth of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee (December 25),” said the Union Minister Harsh Vardhan. The closing session of the IISF will be led by VP Venkaiah Naidu.
When asked about the new strains of the Covid-19 virus, the minister said: “Scientists have shown and will show again that they can meet any new challenge.”
