At least 60 people, including 20 women, were detained after a crackdown on a rave party at a resort on Wagamon Hill, also spelled Vagamon, in the Idukki district on Sunday night, police said.

Police raided the compound after a tip and seized large amounts of psychedelic drugs from revelers. Some of the detainees are said to be associated with the serial television and film industry. Among those arrested are some technicians from Bengaluru. Police said details will be released only after blood tests and other formalities are completed. The owner of the complex, also a leader of the local CPI, is on the run, police said.

Police said they have intelligence reports that such raves were regularly held in remote areas and they manage enough numbers via darknet chat.

The raid was carried out under the supervision of the Idukki District Police Chief R. Karuppuswamy. Wagamon is a hill station located in the Peerumade taluk of the Idukki district.
