CALCUTTA: Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said that in West Bengal false cases are brought against workers of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
He was responding to the fact that BJP National Vice President Mukul Roy was named on the supplemental charge sheet submitted by the West Bengal Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in connection with the murder of TMC MLA Satyajit Biswas.
“This is nothing new in Bengal that after doing an injustice to party workers, false cases are brought against them and they are put behind bars,” Shekhawat told ANI.
“More than 130 party workers have been killed in the state. We are not going to give in or be afraid of this. This epitome of justice will have to end,” he said.
Roy has been named on the supplemental charge sheet submitted by the West Bengal CID in relation to the murder of TMC MLA Satyajit Biswas.
Roy, who was questioned on several occasions by the CID in connection with the case, was mentioned in the supplemental charge sheet filed by the CID with the Ranaghat court in the Nadia district on Saturday.
Mukul Roy was one of four people named as defendants in the alleged murder of Biswas. However, the BJP leader had claimed that the accusations were based on the instructions of West Bengal’s chief minister, Mamata Banerjee.
Biswas, who was chosen from Krishnaganj in Nadia district, was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Phulbari in Jalpaiguri in February 2019. The incident occurred while Biswas was attending Saraswati Puja celebrations in Phulbari.
