UP Dandupur train station to be renamed Maa Barahi Devi Dham

The Dandupur railway station located between Pratapgarh and Badshahpur on the Lucknow-Varanasi railway section will now be called Maa Barahi Devi Dham.

The Union government has given its consent, after which Uttar Pradesh Prime Minister Yogi Adityanath gave his go-ahead to the renaming of the train station.

By giving this information on Twitter, the Chief Minister’s Office posted that a notice would be issued in this regard after obtaining the prime minister’s approval.

There has been a long-standing demand to change the name of the Dandupur railway station in Pratapgarh’s Raniganj tehsil.

Yogi Adityanath has begun the process of recognizing local religious and spiritual sites while respecting public aspirations.

Many express and passenger trains including Kashi-Vishwanath Express, Rae Bareli-Jaunpur Express, Lucknow-Varanasi Intercity, and other trains stop at Dandupur Railway Station.

There is a Maa Barahi Devi temple in the town of Parasrampur, six kilometers from the train station, and there is an annual fair that is visited by a large number of devotees.

Many railway stations have changed names so far. Allahabad Junction is now known as Prayagraj Junction, the city of Allahabad was renamed Prayagraj Rambag, Allahabad Chhioki was changed to Prayagraj Chheoki, and Prayagghat’s name was changed to Prayagraj Sangam.

In October 2017, the name of Mughalsarai Junction, which is a prominent station in Uttar Pradesh, near Varanasi, was changed to Deen Dayal Upadhyay junction.
