NEW DELHI: Prominent Punjabi writers, angered by thdrope central government’s “mistreatment” of agitators seeking to repeal new farm laws, have begun to return their Sahitya awards. After Swarajbir Singh, Jaswinder Singh and Mohanjit, two young writers, Yadwinder Singh and Harmanjeet Singh, have announced that they will return their Sahit Akademi Yuva awards.
Prominent singer and actor Harbhajan Mann has also refused to accept the award announced by the Punjab government on Thursday. Philanthropist and environmentalist Baba Sewa Singh also gave him back the Padma Shri that was awarded to him in 2010 to show his solidarity with the restless farmers.
