LUCK: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday ordered officials to increase the storage capacity of coronavirus vaccines, when available, as he practically equated the safety of vaccines with that of voting machines electronics.
In a meeting at his official residence, he ordered officials to increase cold storage capacity to 2.30 lakh liters by December 15, according to an official statement.
Adityanath also said that cold chain facilities would be organized in each district and division.
“All security arrangements must be made to ensure their availability. The security of vaccine storage places must be guaranteed in the same way as that of electronic voting machines,” the prime minister said.
He also ordered officials to make sure health workers are trained in large numbers to administer vaccines.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Friday that a Covid-19 vaccine could be ready in a few weeks, as he noted that experts believe the wait will not be long and claimed that the vaccination campaign in India will begin as soon as scientists administer the vaccine. head.
Five vaccine candidates are in different phases of clinical trials in India with the Serum Institute of India conducting a phase three trial of the Oxford-Astrazeneca Covid-19 vaccine. Covaxin, a vaccine indigenously developed by Bharat Biotech in collaboration with the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) has also started its phase three clinical trial.
Another vaccine, developed in the country by Zydus Cadila, has completed the phase two clinical trial.
