Narayana Murthy to Deliver an Online Address on Workplace Safety and Health | India News


MUMBAI: The Center for Occupational Safety and Health of the National Institute of Engineering (NIE), Mysuru, will hold a ‘National Forum on Occupational Safety and Health’, to celebrate its first anniversary on December 6.
The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. onwards, according to a press release issued by said Center. The event will be broadcast as a webinar.
“Padma Vibhushan NR Narayana Murthy will be the main guest of the event. He himself, a former NIE student, Narayana Murthy inaugurated the Center last year on that date,” said founder and director Dr. N Krishnamurthy, who will open the proceedings with a brief overview of the Center and its activities over the past year. An address from Murthy will follow.
Three speakers will deliver keynote speeches at the event. Dr RK Elangovan, Director General of the Directorate General of Factory Advisory and Labor Institutes (DGFASLI) will speak on the plans and role of government in Indian occupational safety and health. Dr. Karisiddappa, Vice Chancellor of the Visvesvaraya Technological University in Karnataka, will then present the academic vision of the
importance of education and training on safety in the workplace. Sharmila Kantha, Senior Consultant at the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), will address workplace safety from an industry point of view.
The event will conclude with the announcement of the winners of the WINNOSAFE contest for innovative solutions in the post-COVID workplace, open to all engineering university students in India, and short presentations by some of them. To register send your email address to. HS Aravind,
