NEW DELHI: Congressional Leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra alleged on Wednesday that the Yogi Adityanath government’s ‘Shakti Mission’ has “failed” as crimes against women in Uttar Pradesh increase.
Chief Minister Adityanath had launched the ‘Mission Shakti’ campaign in October, focused on ensuring the safety and dignity of women and girls, with a stern warning that perpetrators of crimes against women will be treated with an iron fist.
Attacking the BJP government, Gandhi said in a Hindi tweet: “When the government’s goal is hypocrisy and false propaganda, missions are doomed to fail.”
“The Shakti mission launched by the BJP government to cover up the growing crimes against women in UP has failed. The case against those responsible for burning a woman after a month is registered. The crimes are increasing,” said the secretary general of Congress in charge of alleged UP.

He also tagged a media report that claimed that a 21-year-old woman in Bhadohi was burned inside her home by thugs, but a case was recorded only after a month.
Congress has been attacking the UP government for the state of law and order, claiming that criminal activities are rampant, a claim denied by the Adityanath dispensation.
