PM Modi discusses the cyclone situation with Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan | India News


THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually discussed the cyclone situation with Kerala Prime Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Wednesday.
Vijayan briefed the prime minister on the arrangements made by the state to fight the cyclone.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert on Wednesday for the districts of Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta and Alappuzha for December 3, in view of Cyclone Burevi.
According to IMD, “Parts of Tamil Nadu and Kerala are likely to receive very heavy rains as cyclonic storm ‘Burevi’, which originated in the southwest of the Bay of Bengal, moves in a west-northwest direction and is expected to intensify even more over the next 12 hours. ”
IMD tweeted, “Heavy to very heavy rains in isolated locations most likely over northern Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Mahe and Karaikal and northern Kerala on December 3, isolated heavy rains on December 2 and 4.”
