IMA calls a strike on December 11 for Ayurveda surgery movement | India News

NEW DELHI: On Tuesday, the IMA called on all physicians practicing modern medicine to remove non-essential and non-Covid services on December 11 in protest against a notification from the Central Council of Indian Medicine authorizing graduate physicians in specific streams of Ayurveda be trained to perform general surgical procedures.
The emergency services will work together with the ICUs and the CCUs, but no elective surgical cases will be published, the physicians’ body said. By stating that the notification from the Central Council of Indian Medicine to allow the legal practice of surgeries by Ayurveda practitioners and the formation of four committees by Niti Aayog for the integration of all systems of medicine will only lead to “myxopathy” , the IMA demanded an immediate withdrawal of both.
