Delhi’s Covid-19 Positivity Rate Drops To 5% In Third Wave – All You Need To Know
With a glimmer of hope, Delhi on Wednesday recorded its lowest positivity rate at 5 percent since the third wave of the Covid-19 disease hit the national capital. This decrease in the positivity rate comes on the day that Delhi significantly boosted its testing and conducted 78,949 tests.
This is the largest number of tests carried out in one day by the authorities of the national capital. Of these, 36,370 tests were performed with RT-PCR kits and 42,579 were rapid antigen tests.
Earlier in the day, Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain had said that the government anticipates the prospects for the Covid-19 positivity rate to drop to 5% in the coming days.
“The positivity rate has dropped below 7%. It is expected to drop 5% in the next few days. Currently, there are more than 1600 ICU beds available in Delhi hospitals, ”said Jain. Delhi’s positivity rate, which had crossed 15% on November 15, remains at the 6-8% mark in recent weeks.
Delhi recorded 3,944 cases on Wednesday, bringing the cumulative count to 5.78,324 and 82 deaths. The death toll in the city from the viral contagion stands at 9,342.
Active cases in Delhi on Wednesday totaled 30,302, of which 18,423 are being treated in home isolation.
The number of Covid-19 containment zones in Delhi increased to 5,772. The containment zones were recorded at 5,669 on Tuesday and 5,552 on Monday.
