Government sources indicated that the decision not to hold the winter session is currently being discussed.
Also being considered is whether to host the winter session and budget session or just hold the budget session directly next year, the sources added.
Farmers from Punjab, Haryana, Western Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand have been campaigning against the recently passed farm laws on the borders of the national capital with the “Dilli Chalo” protest march.
In light of this, the Union Minister of Agriculture, Narendra Singh Tomar, held a meeting with representatives of FarmerTuesday organizations. However, the talks were inconclusive.
The congressional leader, who is also a member of the Parliament’s Defense Committee, has raised the issue of Chinese invasion of Indian lands up to 1000 kilometers.
The argument for not holding the winter session this year has been given by an increase in the number of cases. Sources say the next session of Parliament, the budget session, is likely to be convened at the end of January 2021.
