Doctor Dies and 6 Others Injured After Vehicle Entered Wedding Procession in Uttarakhand


A 25-year-old Ayurvedic doctor was killed and six other people were injured after a van crashed into a wedding procession on Rampur Road in the Haldwani area on Monday night, police said Tuesday.

The incident occurred when guests were dancing on the road.

Sanjay Kumar, Haldwani Police Station Inspector, said: “Property merchant Amit Upreti was getting married on Monday in Haldwani. The wedding was taking place in a banquet hall on Rampur Road in Haldwani. His relatives had come from Meerut to attend his marriage. When their friends and family danced in the wedding procession, a speeding van crashed into the procession. ”

Kumar said seven people were injured in the incident. “All the injured were rushed to the Dr. Susheela Tiwari government hospital in Haldwani, where the doctors declared that one person had died. Five of the injured are in treatment, while one was referred to a higher health center, “he said.

The deceased has been identified as Aryan, a 25-year-old resident of Sanjay Nagar in Uttar Pradesh. He was a BAMS doctor (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery). The injured person who was referred to a different facility has been identified as Ansh, an 18-year-old Meerut resident.

“The other five injured include Lovely, Somi, Bobby, Amit Upreti and Hema Joshi,” he said.

“Images from CCTV cameras installed on Rampur Road are being scanned to identify the driver of the vehicle. We will arrest him soon, ”Kumar said.
