NEW DELHI: A new low-pressure zone, formed over the Bay of Bengal after the arrival of cyclone ‘Nivar’, is likely to intensify into a low-intensity cyclonic storm and cross the coast of Sri Lanka on Wednesday evening , bringing heavy rains to India. parts further south, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has said.
After crossing the coast of Sri Lanka, the cyclone will move westward and emerge into the Comorin area on Thursday morning, the agency added. Although it won’t be as severe as ‘Nivar’ that hit the coast of India near Puducherry last week, the agency has advised fishermen not to venture into the southeast and southwest of the Bay of Bengal since Tuesday night. and in the southwest of the Bay of Bengal. , along and off the east coast of Sri Lanka, the Comorin area, the Gulf of Mannar and the coasts of Tamil Nadu-Kerala from Wednesday noon.
