‘According to Indian Culture’: Saibaba Temple Calls on Devotees to Come in Civilized Dress
The Saibaba Temple Trust at Shirdi in Maharashtra has placed boards inviting devotees to dress in a “civilized” way, or according to “Indian culture”, when they come to the holy site to offer prayers.
When contacted, Shri Saibaba Sansthan Trust CEO Kanhuraj Bagate told PTI on Tuesday that it is only an appeal and that the trust has not imposed any dress code on devotees.
He said the appeal was made after devotees complained that some people were coming to the shrine, located in Shirdi, Ahmedanagar district, in “objectionable” attire.
“Since it is a holy and sacred place, we have appealed to devotees to come to the shrine dressed in civilized garb, or according to Indian culture,” he said.
