Prime Minister Discusses Covid-19 Vaccine Development and Delivery with Three Teams
Prime Minister Narendra Modi held virtual meetings on Monday with teams from Gennova Biopharmaceuticals Ltd in Pune, Biological E Ltd and Dr Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd, who are working on vaccines for Covid-19.
“The Prime Minister thanked the efforts that scientists from these companies are making to find a vaccine solution to combat Covid-19. The potential of various platforms for vaccine development was also discussed, ”said a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office.
The Prime Minister also discussed issues related to regulatory approvals of the candidate vaccines, according to the statement. He also suggested that companies undertake vaccine disclosure initiatives to dispel myths about the vaccine. The statement added that issues related to logistics, transportation, cold chain, etc. were also discussed. regarding the delivery of vaccines.
Currently, all vaccine candidates are in different stages of trials.
Dr Reddy’s Laboratories has partnered with Russian developers of the Covid-19 vaccine to conduct phase 2/3 clinical trials for their Sputnik V in India.
Biological E also recently began phase 1/2 clinical trials of its Covid-19 vaccine candidate.
Gennova Biopharmaceuticals is also ready to test its mRNA vaccine candidate.
