File report on kidnapping and murder of a girl: NCPCR to Odisha | India News

NEW DELHI: Taking note of a complaint made by BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra regarding the alleged kidnapping and murder of a minor girl in the Nayagarh district of Odisha, the National Commission for the Protection of Children’s Rights (NCPCR) on Monday ordered the state government to submit a detailed report within 10 days.
The commission ordered Odisha’s chief secretary to present the girl’s birth certificate and post-mortem report, in addition to the copy of the FIR along with the current status of the investigation and actions taken by the police against the accused.
On Monday, Patra submitted a memorandum to the president of the NCPCR seeking justice for the family of the minor who was killed in July this year. Speaking to the media, he said that BJP has submitted its demands to the NCPCR on two issues.
“I prayed to the president of the NCPCR, Priyank Kanoongo, to form a team for a timely investigation to determine if the vital organs of the minor had been removed and the alleged complicity of Minister Arun Kumar Sahu in this incident,” said Patra . “I also asked him to convene the Nayagarh district collector and SP to appear in person and clarify why there is an excessive delay in the investigation and why the victim’s parents made a suicide attempt in front of the state assembly.” he said.
Meanwhile, sources said the NCPCR has had a strong view of the incident that smacks of a larger conspiracy that includes the complicity of a high-ranking politician. “The commission is analyzing the details of the incident and there is a possibility that it may form a committee for on-site verification,” an official said.
