Mehbooba asks for dialogue with Pak

People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chairman and former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday, saying “there is no place for democracy” under his rule.

“There is no place for real democracy in BJP India. They want to create their own ecosystem. They have their own puppets and B teams that they want to install here and that is why they are making so much effort for the DDC elections, ”he told reporters a day after the first phase of the first District Development Council elections in the territory of the Union. .

The Mufti PDP and the National Conference have formed the People’s Alliance for the Gupkar Declaration to work for the restoration of Article 370, which was repealed last year, along with other regional parties. The PAGD constituents are jointly contesting the DDC elections, the first elections being held in the old state since the effective revocation of its special status and the bifurcation into two Union territories, J&K and Ladakh.

The former CM said that the elections were not the solution to the problems of the region. Instead, he added, the government should hold a dialogue with the people of J&K and Pakistan.

“The elections are not a solution to the Kashmir problem, but I am happy that people are voting and saying that India and Pakistan should speak up. And the talks should happen, ”he said.

“Even though China has taken over much of our land, we are talking to them. Now there are 10 rounds of talks with them, ”Mufti said, referring to the military and diplomatic talks that are being held with China in the wake of a confrontation along the Royal Line of Control in the eastern sector of Ladakh.

“And on the other hand, people are dying on our borders, on both sides, why not talk to Pakistan? Is it that (Pakistan) is a Muslim country with no dialogue? Because everything is communal now; Sardar is Khalistani, Muslim is Pakistani and Kashmir is a terrorist, ”said the head of the PDP.

“The number of people participating in the elections has nothing to do with the Kashmir issue. The Kashmir problem is there, it will be there as long as there is no solution through dialogue with the people of Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan, ”he said.

Reacting to Mufti’s accusations, J&K BJP boss Ravinder Raina said: “The J&K people have rejected the Gupkar gang … There is a wave in favor of BJP in the current DDC elections. Mehbooba Mufti is distraught by the enthusiasm of the BJP activists, particularly the youth. She has been rejected by people … “
