Congressional leader Rahul Gandhi criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in the Center on Sunday, claiming that the central government has ensured that marginalized students, those belonging to the scheduled Caste and Tribe, do not have access to education.
“In India’s vision of BJP / RSS, Adivasis and Dalits should not have access to education. Stopping scholarships for SC-ST students is their way to end that justifies their means, ”Gandhi tweeted.
Gandhi’s tweet cited a report saying that scholarships for 60 lakh SC students are stagnant due to the end of core funding. The All India Post Matric Scholarship Program for SC provides financial assistance of approximately Rs 18,000 per year to SC students from class 11 to 12, in order to help them complete their education.
The report indicated that the plan was pending cabinet approval for nearly a year and was also discussed in detail with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The congressional leader, who has consistently attacked the government on his Twitter on topics ranging from the economy to law and policy, had recently said that the Indian economy is in recession for the first time under Prime Minister Modi.
