4 dead when vehicle carrying wedding party collides with truck in Rajasthan

Four people were killed and 10 injured when a van carrying a wedding party collided head-on with a truck in Bharatpur early Sunday morning, police said.

The accident took place on the Bharatpur-Alwar state road near the village of Panhori, below the Deeg police station, when 13 members of a family were going from Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh to Mahendragarh in Haryana for a wedding. Three family members and the driver were killed in the collision.

Police arrived at the scene and rescued all the injured from the vehicle with the help of the villagers.

Harvir Singh, chief of police at Deeg Police Station, said the bodies will be handed over to the families after a post-mortem examination. Six seriously injured were referred to the Raj Bahadur Memorial District Hospital from the Deeg Community Health Center.
