Gold seizure worth Rs 81.2 lakh at Kozhikode airport

The Air Intelligence Unit on Friday seized more than 1.6 kilograms of gold valued at roughly Rs 81.2 lakhs from two passengers in two separate instances at Kozhikode International Airport in Kerala.

According to the Commissioner of Customs (Preventive), in the first instance around 1.6 kg of gold worth approximately Rs 77 lakh was seized from inside a battery box of a Bluetooth speaker from a passenger traveling from Jeddah in Saudi Arabia.

In the second incident, 87 grams of gold worth 4.2 lakh rupees were seized from a passenger traveling from Dubai. Gold was brought in liquid form mixed with chemicals and hidden in perfume bottles.
