CWC pays tribute to Patel & Gogoi, calls for unity | India News

NEW DELHI: Amid continued rumors, members of Congress urged unity and discipline as the party rallied to pay tribute to Ahmed Patel and Tarun Gogoi, who passed away this week.
At the meeting of the Congressional Working Committee, headed by party chief Sonia Gandhi, senior members said the true tribute to Patel and Gogoi would be to work together and strengthen the party.
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said party members should put their differences aside. He said that Patel had three qualities: He was discreet, loyal, and kept his word. It emerged that Ambika Soni, emphasizing Patel’s loyalty, said that party members should forget the past and work together in the future, a clear reference to the recent dissonance. Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot mentioned the need for party leaders to put the past behind them. He urged Rahul Gandhi to take the lead. Ghulam Nabi Azad, who heads the dissident group, did not raise the issue, sources said. TNN
