15-year-old boy arrested by police for threatening to kill Yogi Adityanath – lucknow
A week after the Uttar Pradesh police detained him for allegedly threatening to ‘blow up’ the state’s Prime Minister Yogi Adityanath, the family of the 15-year-old Agra boy awaits his return.
However, the family has described the child’s action as “childish.”
The boy’s 70-year-old grandmother said she was not home when her grandson was taken away. “We are making efforts and the boy’s father has gone to Lucknow to secure his release,” he said.
“My grandson is a simple child and should not be treated as a criminal for his childish act,” he added.
According to police at the Sushant Golf City Police Station in Lucknow, the teenager had sent the threat via WhatsApp to the state’s Dial 112 helpline number. The police traced the mobile number through his cell phone and found a boy who resided in a village in the Agra district.
Two policemen landed at the boy’s home in Agra last Sunday and took him to Lucknow, where he was presented before a Juvenile Board. He was later sent to a home for minors in the city. The boy is the son of a school teacher.
