Suicide Case Appeal: Arnab Goswami’s Temporary Bail Will Continue Until Bombay HC Resolves His Statement, Says SC | India News


NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court said Friday that the provisional bail granted to Republic TV editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami and others on December 11 in an alleged complicity to suicide case will remain in effect until the Mumbai High Court decide your requests for annulment of the FIR in the case.
The higher court added that their bond would remain in effect for four weeks after the HC’s decision, in order to allow them to move the SC if the HC rejected their allegations.
“The prima facie assessment of FIR presented by the Maharashtra police on the alleged non-payment of fees that led the businessman to commit suicide does not establish a prima facie charge of complicity against Goswami,” said a bank of judges DY Chandrachud, Indu Malhotra and Indira Banerjee.
The SC said that Bombay HC abdicated its duty to protect the freedoms of a citizen who had been complaining that the Maharashtra government was attacking him for his unfair opinions expressed on its television channel.
