No government in the world can stop farmers from fighting the ‘battle of truth’: Rahul | India News

NEW DELHI: Congressional Leader Rahul Gandhi attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday for farmers’ agitation against new farm laws, saying no government in the world can stop farmers in the “battle of truth” .
The former head of Congress’s attack on the government came when thousands of farmers, carrying flags and shouting slogans, gathered at various entry points to the national capital in a determined attempt to break through as part of their ‘Delhi Chalo’ march against the new agricultural laws while the police blocked them with barricades, tear gas canisters and batons.
Later, farmers were allowed to enter the national capital and maintain a peaceful agitation, Delhi police said.
In a Hindi tweet, Gandhi said the prime minister should remember that whenever arrogance acquires the truth, it is defeated.
“No government in the world can stop the farmers who are fighting the battle for the truth,” said the former head of Congress.
“The Modi government will have to accept the farmers’ demands and withdraw the black laws. This is just the beginning!” tweeted with the hashtag ‘IamWithFarmers’.
Punjab farmers, representing more than 30 agricultural agencies, have announced that they will march to Delhi via various routes: Lalru, Shambhu, Patiala-Pehowa, Patran-Khanauri, Moonak-Tohana, Ratia-Fatehabad and Talwandi-Sirsa to protest against the new farm laws.
Farmers are demanding the repeal of the new farm laws, which, they said, should be replaced by another set of framed legislation after wider consultation with stakeholders.
They also want a guarantee on minimum support prices.
