My stable government, the allies will contest the polls together: Uddhav Thackeray | India News

MUMBAI: Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said on Friday that the ruling allies of Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) will fight together in all elections, including the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) poll.
Thackeray (60), who heads the Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress alliance ministry, spoke to select media at his official Varsha residence in South Mumbai, as the MVA regime completes a year in office on Saturday.
“The MVA will fight all elections, including the BMC (scheduled for 2022) together,” Thackeray said, adding that he did not feel the need to react to speculation that MVA partners will fight the elections separately.
Stating that his government is stable, Thackeray said the alliance partners are perceived to be ideologically different, but that the interests of the state and the welfare of the people unite the three parties.
“We were in an ideological alliance before, but the very foundation of that ideology, (based on) trust and faith, was betrayed,” Thackeray said, alluding to the power that his Shiv Sena party shared in the state with the BJP during 1995. -1999. and again during 2014-19.
Thackeray defended his party’s alliance with his political rivals, Congress and the NCP to form a government, saying that Shiv Sena was in league with a partner (BJP) who had a dark mind.
“Now you will realize what we went through when we were in alliance with BJP. The perverted mind is now exposed,” he said, referring to BJP targeting his wife Rashmi in land deals and his son Aaditya in the case of Sushant’s death. Singh Rajput.
Thackeray said the most unforgettable moment of the past year was the “betrayal of a friend” aged 25 to 30. “The perversion and the culture are different. The perverted politics are being seen now,” he said, criticizing the BJP.
Shiv Sena had criticized BJP on policy issues and did not address family members, he said.
In Hindutva, Thackeray said, “My definition of Hindutva has not changed. It is cultured and not perverted like the BJP. Culture is very important in Hindutva.”
“When we are with you (BJP), we are good. The land deals happened when you were in government,” Thackeray said, referring to BJP’s claim that Rashmi Thackeray had land deals with Anvay Naik, the architect who committed suicide in 2018.
He said that the BJP leaders who target him are all outsiders and do not belong to the “original” BJP. “Now the BJP is being run by outsiders?” He asked.
When asked about his national ambitions, Thackeray said that the tripartite alliance in Maharashtra against the BJP sent a national message.
“I will keep walking. I took on this responsibility (the post of prime minister) out of anger at the betrayal of the BJP. There is no point in maintaining undue expectations. Let’s see what happens,” he said.
“You can go on dreaming. Dreaming is not a crime,” Thackeray said when asked about former prime minister Devendra Fadnavis’ claim that he would return to power.
Thackeray also dismissed reports that the Sharad Pawar-led PNC may go with the BJP. “I am confident that NCP will remain at the MVA,” he added.
He also downplayed criticisms that Pawar “remotely controlled” the MVA regime. “Whenever he (Pawar) knows me, he shares his experiences and nothing else,” Thackeray said. “I don’t sit with a blackboard and chalk when he comes to me,” she added.
Thackeray said that addressing the coronavirus pandemic in the first days of his tenure was a daunting and challenging task.
“Although I lacked administrative skills, my political allies and the bureaucracy worked in unison with me. We are the first state to have a task force and guidelines for the treatment of Covid-19. The field hospitals in Mumbai were created in 17 days.” , said.
Despite the coronavirus-induced lockdown, Maharashtra signed several memorandums of understanding to invest in the state, Thackeray said.
“About 60 to 70 percent of the Rs 17 billion memorandums of understanding were signed in June and are in the process of being implemented in terms of permitting and land acquisition for the projects. Memoranda were also recently signed. understanding worth 35 billion rupees more, “he said. .
