Weather will improve in J&K, Ladakh with decreased rain and snowfall: IMD

The weather in the Kashmir Valley is likely to improve with light snow and rain only in isolated locations, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted.

IMD officials said it was raining or snowing lightly in most places on the J&K axis, Drass Zojila and the sky was cloudy to cloudy in the rest of Ladakh.

“As expected, there is a gradual decrease in rain / snow from early in the morning. We expect a significant improvement in the weather starting in the afternoon in both UTs, ”said a senior IMD official on Wednesday.

He said the weather will most likely remain dry until December 3. “You can’t rule out isolated light rain or snow. No significant weather [change] it is expected for the next eight days. “

The IMD said that people, especially those living in snow-covered areas, should remain alert to a possible avalanche as there is a lot of snow accumulation on the hills.

Despite snowfall, traffic on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway continues to advance. The Mughal Road Alternative is closed to traffic. Srinagar recorded a high of 5.6 degrees Celsius and a low of 1.6 degrees Celsius on Tuesday.
