President Kovind Boards Air India One’s First Flight to Chennai, to Visit Tirumala Today | India News


NEW DELHI: President Ram Nath Kovind boarded the first flight of the Air India One – B777 aircraft to Chennai on Tuesday for his visit to Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh.
President Kovind, accompanied by his wife Savita Kovind, will arrive at Tirupati airport in Renigunta at 10.30 am today.
“President Kovind boards Air India One-B777 aircraft for maiden flight to Chennai. President will visit Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh to offer prayers at Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple,” the Indian President’s office tweeted.

The president commended Air India and Indian Air Force (IAF) pilots, crew members and the entire team for operating the state-of-the-art aircraft and facilitating VVIP movements within the country and on state visits abroad.
“This is the first flight of the Air India One – B777 aircraft with the Head of State on board. The aircraft saves fuel and has a longer range than the B747-400 which is deployed for similar VVIP operations. The aircraft has interior status of latest generation with reduced noise levels, “Ajay Kumar Singh, the president’s press secretary, said in a statement.
The Air India One aircraft is intended exclusively for the President, Vice President and Prime Minister. Two VVIP Air India One aircraft recently arrived in India.
The aircraft is equipped with an advanced and secure communication system that makes it possible to take advantage of airborne audio and video communication functions without concerns of piracy or recordings, sources familiar with the details said.
The VVIP B-777 aircraft is a replacement for the Boeing B-747 wide-body jumbo jet whose call sign is Air India One.
The new Boeing 777 VVIP guest aircraft is also equipped with advanced defense systems and will be fully operated by IAF pilots in due course.
Andhra Pradesh Governor Biswabhusan Harichandanand and Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy will welcome the President at Tirupati Airport.
After his arrival, President Kovind plans to visit Tiruchanur Sri Padmavati Temple. From there you will go to the Tirumala guest house at 12:15 PM.
The President will visit Varaha Swami Temple and Lord Balaji Temple at 12:50 pm.
At 3pm, you will leave Tirumala to depart for Ahmedabad.
