FIR registered in MP against Netflix for shots of ‘kisses on the temple’ | India News

BHOPAL: An FIR was recorded against two Netflix officials in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, on Monday for the alleged shooting of kissing scenes at a temple in Maheshwar.
“During the investigation it was discovered that ‘A suitable child’ hurts the religious feelings of a community. Therefore, an FIR will be registered under section 295A of the IPC against Netflix office holders Mon-ika Shergill and Ambika Khurana, ”Madhya Pradesh Interior Minister Narottam Mishra said in a statement on Monday.
The IPC charge carries up to three years in prison for “willful and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious sentiments of any kind by insulting their religion or religious beliefs.” It is a recognizable crime and without bail, which means that the police can arrest without a warrant.
Shergill is Vice President (Content) and Khurana is Netflix’s Director of Public Policy.
On Sunday, after BJYM official Gaurav Tiwari filed a complaint with Rewa SP, Mishra ordered an investigation and said: “A suitable child, projected on an OTT platform, shows a man kissing a girl inside of a temple while bhajans play in the background. . There are two or three such scenes. I find it objectionable. I feel like the feelings hurt. ”
The interior minister ordered officials to examine the series’ ‘intent’ and what actions can be taken against its director and producer. Tiwari had alleged that the scenes were filmed in a Shiva temple at Maheshwar Ghat.
